Counseling or Psychotherapy can help restructure ways of thinking, negative attitudes, and understand behaviors and ideas that can contribute to discomfort with an individual, in relationships, and in families.

Counseling or Psychotherapy is useful for....

  • Those who need specific guidance on a serious emotional and/or psychosocial concern.

  • Those who do not feel they have found a supportive place to meet their mental health needs

  • Those who feel stagnant in life.

  • Those who are seeking preventive care and ways to maintain wellness.

Setting

Office counseling

Counseling services are offered in a quiet, comfortable therapy room arranged for face-to-face conversation.

Session length: 45–60 minutes. Set or review goals, discuss recent events and symptoms, use CBT based techniques, summarize, and assign any homework.

Telehealth counseling

Counseling services are provided using secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform via the patient portal, Therapy Appointment or Spruce Health App. Clients are asked to be in a private quiet space.

Structure: Sessions mirror in-person timing (45–60 minutes) and flow.

Benefits: Reduces travel, increases scheduling flexibility, and improves access for those with mobility limits, caregiving duties, or remote locations. Helps maintain care during illness, travel, or bad weather.

Limitations: Video may limit full nonverbal observation and is subject to technical issues. Some hands-on or equipment-based interventions aren’t feasible. Privacy at home can be challenging; therapists and clients work together on solutions (headphones, private rooms, white noise).

Choosing between office and telehealth

  • Clinical and personal fit: Some people prefer the in-person connection and environment of the office, while others find telehealth more convenient. Certain clinical situations may be better served in-office, while many common concerns (anxiety, depression, relationship issues, life changes) respond well to telehealth.

  • Practical factors: Consider commute time, childcare, physical mobility, availability of a private space at home, and personal comfort with technology when choosing the format.

If you’d like, we can discuss which format may suit your needs best and what to expect at your first appointment at Caulum Counseling.

Insurance and Payments

Health insurance often covers some of the fees associated with counseling services. If you have more than one type of health insurance coverage, it is important that all relevant information is provided to me so your coverage can be accurately determined before services begin.

Deductibles, co-payments, and co-insurance amounts are due at the time of service unless other arrangements have been made in advance.

Fees: Diagnostic evaluations are billed at $225. Individual 45–55 minute sessions are billed at $180.
